These notes originally incorrectly stated that the commission unanimously voted to protest all the liquor license applications. This version also deletes an incorrect statement that the commission gave a $100 grant toward a mural project. It simply gave its support. The commission also did not donate books to the Rosedale Recreation Center, but voted to send a thank-you letter to a group that did. The Voice regrets the errors.

At is June 11 meeting, the commission:

• voted to support a mural on the side of a brick house at the corner of Wiley and 13th streets.

• heard commissioner Kelvin Robinson report on the success of the Rosedale Walking Tour.

• heard commissioner Nick Alberti announce that Maury Elementary School’s recent fundraiser was a success and that a new principal is being hired for the school.

• heard chair Joe Fengler announce that he has been trying to get Residential Permit Parking designated for 10th Street NE between F and G streets.

• unanimously voted to support to an Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration restaurant liquor-license application for The Star & The Shamrock, 1341 H St. NE., pending the signing of a voluntary agreement.

• unanimously voted not to object to an Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration liquor-license renewal application for New York Liquors, 1447 Maryland Ave. NE, pending the signing of a voluntary agreement.

• unanimously voted not to object to an Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration liquor-license renewal application for Family Liquors, 710 H St. NE, pending the signing of a voluntary agreement.

• unanimously voted not to object to an Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration liquor-license renewal application for Jumbo Liquors, 1122 H St. NE, pending the signing of a voluntary agreement.

• unanimously voted not to object to an Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration liquor-license renewal application for Master Liquors, 1806 D St. NE, pending the signing of a voluntary agreement.

• unanimously supported a Historic Preservation Review Board application for a two-story rear addition at 217 10th St. NE.

• unanimously authorized the entire commission and its transportation and public space committee chair Omar Mahmud to testify at the Board of Zoning Adjustment’s and Public Space Committee’s cases against DAG Petroleum, which is seeking to build a Shell gas station at 1400 Maryland Ave. The next public space hearing on the case is scheduled for June 25.

• unanimously supported sending a letter to D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs director Linda Argo to request that electronic copies of building permits the agency grants be distributed to advisory neighborhood commissions at their request.

• voted 5-0, with commissioners Raphael Marshall and Mary Beatty abstaining, to table a resolution that would ask the Historic Preservation Review Board to designate the buildings at the northwest and northeast corners of H and 8th streets NE as historic landmarks. Commissioner David Holmes said that because the board recently declined to designate similar buildings on H Street known as Meads Row, he had little hope these buildings would receive designation. “I now think this has the danger of giving us a reputation of posing motions that will not be approved,” he said.

• heard the community outreach committee request that commissioners give recommendations on where they believe meeting agendas should be distributed, and provide a count of how many agenda copies they want for their single-member districts.

• unanimously supported the proposed Ward 6 Enhanced Residential Parking Zone legislation. The commission also asked the District Department of Transportation for additional clarification on the visitor pass program, including an explanation on how it differs from the current visitor pass process.

• agreed to send a letter to the District Department of Transportation suggesting revisions to the proposed valet parking regulations. The revisions would require valet parking permit applicants to provide 30 days’ notice of the application to the affected advisory neighborhood commission. It would also require the Public Space Committee to consider the commission’s input when reviewing the applications.

• agreed to send a thank-you letter to a group that donated books to the Rosedale Civic Association’s youth library.

• agreed to support Rosedale Recreation Center in its drive for supplies and volunteers for its summer activities.

• agreed to recommend that the District Department of Transportation alter parking rules on weekends on various side streets off H Street. The commission said there should be Residential Permit Parking only on one side, with extended parking on the other side, Thursday through Sunday.
