Garfield Park butterfly release planned
May 28, 2009
By the Voice
The Wendt Center for Loss and Healing, a Northwest-based nonprofit that provides counseling to area residents coping with trauma and loss, will release butterflies this weekend in memory of loved ones.

The event, which organizers hope will be repeated annually, will take place at Garfield Park on Capitol Hill Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.

"We don't often get the chance to pause and remember those who had special impact on our lives in this beautiful and community-oriented way," said the center's executive director, Susan Ley, in a release.

To participate, purchase a Monarch butterfly online at wendtcenter.org and designate a loved one's name to be read aloud at the event, which NBC4 anchor Barbara Harrison will host.
