“Since we opened on December 2, we’ve worked hard to provide a welcoming entryway to the U.S. Capitol for the many visitors from around the world who come to see the legislative branch of our government at work,” Terrie S. Rouse, chief executive officer for visitor services at the center, said in a release.
The Visitor Center marks the largest expansion of the Capitol, with a new 16,500-foot exhibition hall that features American artifacts. According to the release, the wait for visitors entering the Capitol has decreased from four hours to an average of six to 10 minutes.
